Where has the time gone…

May 7th, 2009

I really don’t know!

Not much of an update since Christmas really, I’ve done a full service including all oils, filters and a good check over. Also took one of the rear half shafts out to check for wear in the drive train but all was ok. Had a very slight weep from the sump plug since, but have a new plug and washer to go on when I get chance.

Good news is I managed to win myself a winch bumper! Trouble is now, I have no winch to put in it and not enough money at the moment to buy one! Will keep you updated on that one… Also looking at a 1.222 transfer box at the moment to up the gearing slightly as I’ve done a few motorway miles lately and it’s been rather deafening just at 60 - but hey I can’t complain, it’s the vehicle I love!

Christmas Update

December 30th, 2008

Well I hope you all had a great Christmas - with lots of presents for your Land Rover - and will have a happy new year!

Good news is the leak in my roof is fixed (for now) by filling the gutter with silicone glazing sealant. It looks unsightly, but at least I don’t get wet now! This has meant that the headlining has gone back in, and as I did that I fitted some new speakers (to be updated in the mods section soon).

Over Christmas my rear mudflaps fell off - as they do! So £35 lighter I got some new genuine ones, only to find the captive nuts holding them on were no longer captive! Another £30 bought me a Riv-Nut tool and 100 Riv-Nut’s from eBay (great tool for the price by the way, contact through the site if you’re interested in one) and after cutting the heads off the old bolts, getting the loose captive nuts out, and fitting the Riv-Nuts I now have 2 new mud flaps!

Happy new year…

Long Time…

December 12th, 2008

Once again keeping up-to-date with the blog and website has fallen by the way side.

I’m still working on the X-Tech though, currently trying to solve a leak in the roof. It seems to be seeping it’s way through from the outside gutters into the inside gutters, soaking me when I first brake after it’s been standing in the rain for a while. My first attempt will be to fill the gutters with some sealant… failing that I’ll have to think of something more radical…

Just in case I don’t update again before Christmas, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Forum now Online!

October 27th, 2008

The X-Tech forum is now online so why not pop over for a chat here!

You can chat on the forum without registering if you wish, although X-Tech owners can register and apply to join the owners group where they can talk in private.

Look forward to seeing you there!

New Website Feature

September 28th, 2008

I’ve added a great new feature to the site - on the Modifications page you can now click on some of the mods to see more detail about them! I’ve only done a few so far - but the plan is to document all my future modifications with more detail so I can add them in on the Modifications page! If you want any information about the modifications, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Peterborough LROi Show 08

September 19th, 2008

Went to my first ever Land Rover show on the weekend - and what a good one it was too! Managed to pick up some tree sliders and a tank guard at a bargain price (new), saw lots of interesting things and had a go at the off-road course! You can see a small selection of pictures HERE!

I’ve just started the big clean up after the off-road course, I’ve never seen the chassis so dirty and I’m finding MUD everywhere other than on the body which is now nice and clean. I also plan to write up the split charge install soon, and add some pictures to go with it, so watch this space!

Long Struggle

September 3rd, 2008

Well it’s been a while since I posted on the blog but don’t worry - I’ve been busy! I decided to fit a dual battery split charge setup onto my X-Tech which involved ripping out all my previous auxiliary wiring and fusebox to make way for the 2nd battery, and move the fusebox behind the seat with new wiring.

Since the weather has been so bad - I’ve resorted to taking out the passenger seat and trying to work in the confines of a 90! If you’ve ever tried it you’ll know where I’m coming from - my back is killing me!

I’m quite happy now it’s all done and working, and there will be some pictures in the gallery soon. I may even do a write up to introduce a new section into the ‘Modifications’ part of my site - where I can go into more detail about what I’ve done!

X-Tech Owners

July 20th, 2008

A new section has now been added to the website! The X-Tech Owners section is for other owners of X-Techs to show off their vehicle! So if you own an X-Tech or know someone that does, contact me using the contact page on the website so that I can send you the details on how to upload your pride and joy!

SWLRC Meeting

June 10th, 2008

I attended the first proper South Wales Land Rover Club meeting tonight - and good it was too! Met a few more people from the club, everyone is so friendly! Hoping to go and do a little greenlaning with them as well as attend a few events over the summer months!

Wild Wales

June 9th, 2008

From now on I need to make an effort to keep up with the Blog… so this is the start!

This weekend just gone I and a friend joined on a Wild Wales Safari Greenlane adventure with the Land Rover Owner Adventure Club. I met some fantastic people, everyone was really nice and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend! If anyone is thinking of going on one of these Wild Wales trips, go for it - you won’t regret it!

Spent the whole day Monday with a bottle of t-cut as my best friend getting some scratches out, and it’s got me thinking about some rock sliders as I lightly damaged my side steps on the weekend. There’s so much to do to a Land Rover it’s hard to decide what to spend your hard earned money on and how to keep it looking as original as possible!

More updates soon!
